# Staking Gauges

The Staking Gauge aims to incentivize users to hold Carbon on-chain rather than off chain. By rewarding governance to early adopters and hold carbon, we create stickiness and a lindy effect. This adds an additional use-case to carbon tokens, and provides a supply sink for people to place their holdings without adding additional volatility onto the carbon asset. 

The following carbon tokens will be incentivized when the C3 Staking Gauge is live: 

* **UBO**
* **NBO**
* **wsKLIMA**

Future carbon tokens, C3 or non-C3 carbon tokens, can be incentivized in the future. For carbon tokens that do not originate from C3, they will have to go through a governance proposal in order to be added to the gauge.
